Before you buy
Will it work on your phone?
Two things have to be true: your handset must support eSIM, and it must not be locked to a carrier. Both are quick to check, and checking now saves a refund later.

Does your phone show an EID?
Dial *#06# on your phone. If the screen shows an “EID” — a long number listed separately from the IMEI — your phone has eSIM hardware.
The fastest check of all
On almost any modern phone, dial *#06#. If the screen that appears shows an EID — a long number, separate from your IMEI — your phone has eSIM hardware.
No EID means no eSIM, and unfortunately no amount of software will add it.
Checking it is unlocked
A carrier-locked phone will refuse a profile from another network even if the hardware supports eSIM. Phones bought outright are normally unlocked; phones bought on contract or instalments often are not until the balance is cleared.
- iPhone: Settings → General → About → look for “Carrier Lock”. It should read “No SIM restrictions”.
- Android: varies by manufacturer — the surest answer is to ask the carrier you bought it from.
